Department of Materials Science and Engineering, supported by interdisciplinary studies, aims to produce and characterize a wide range of materials, from the simplest materials we use in our daily lives to nano-sized materials, which are vital and groundbreaking in the technological development of human beings, as well as engineering applications. Materials Science Engineers develop and modify raw materials and apply different processes to make them useful materials with desired properties. Materials Engineers try to make ceramics, plastics, metal and/or more specialized materials suitable for the intended purpose.

Department of Materials Science and Engineering started its activities within the Faculty of Engineering of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University in the 2011-2012 academic year. In our department, the necessary studies for the admission of undergraduate students continue. Our department has been continuing its postgraduate activities under the Department of Materials Science and Engineering since the 2022-2023 academic year.
